Window Shopping // Fall in the Desert

While the rest of the country seems to be bundling up and breaking out their boot collections, I've been basking in the sunshine of Palm Springs all week. Seems strange to think that even after I make it back home to the beach, we will still have at LEAST a few more weeks of Summertime warmth! (The Santa Ana Winds always seem to make for a weirdly un-festive and somewhat sweaty October.)Regardless of your own hometown region, this little limbo-time that happens between seasons can be a tricky slot to dress for.I'm definitely excited for cooler days, but will happily rely on layers, colors and textures until the temps match the pieces that I pull out of my closet! In the meantime, here are a few ways I'm letting my Southern-California-self settle into the groove of Fall style...

-- Sleeveless Sweaterdress. This little guy is a gem because you can rock it with slide sandals and a baseball cap all summer OR add a long sleeve tee underneath and a leather jacket to complete the cool-weather look.-- Silk Camisole. This is a KEY layer in my own wardrobe and during the fall, i use it primarily for adding a protective barrier between my skin and my sometimes-itchy new fall sweaters. let the bottom edge peek out for visual interest or tuck it in to your tailored trousers for a more seamless look.

-- Olive Green. One of my favorite shades in the universe and even though i wear it year-round, you can currently find me saving up for an up-leveled pompom sweatshirt like this one.-- Terracotta. Easy to dive in with the warm hue of a feminine blouse or new shoulder bag, and opting for a new bucket bag in something other than basic black is a sure way to punch up the outfits that you're sick of wearing all summer.

-- Tassles. The sandy sheen on these dangling stunners is the perfect way to pull in a few autumnal hues that are still surely footed on neutral ground. i.e. The fringey goodness is what you wear when you want to feel festive but hate having to bust out the brown and orange leaf-themed print.-- Velvet. Maybe not as iconic as "blue suede" when it comes to footwear, but this inky version of velvet boots are such a glam way to dress up a simple sweater + jeans. (Also thinking that I'd love to rock these chic slip-on loafers in jungle green, but I'm afraid my shoe shelves are at max capacity.) Ps. - All of this week's items are from Shopbop and they are having a MAJOR fall sale that lasts until September 29th!
