DIY | Drawer Pull Napkin Rings
Happy Saturday, little chickadees! I meant to get this post up for you much earlier this morning, but we've been project-ing away on a few other things, and I'm just now getting a chance to sit at my desk for a second. This Napkin Ring DIY was inspired by the gorgeous new drawer pulls from one of my all-time favorite artists, Michael Aram. I remember first coming across his work after receiving a gorgeous set of salad servers he designed as a wedding gift, and then always loved ogling his gorgeous collections whenever I would step into Hall's on the Plaza in Kansas City. After getting to spend some time with him at an event last fall, I couldn't get over the fact that he is even warmer than I would have imagined. (Plus, he was hilarious, and I'm a sucker for sweetie-pie with a sense of humor!)Anyhow - I always love adding more of his pieces to our home here and there (pretty sure these salt + pepper shakers will be next), so I jumped at the chance to feature a more unconventional item from the line in a simple project that you can whip up in an afternoon. These pretty pulls look so chic in the shiny gold-toned metal, and the adorable insect shapes add just the right amount of personality to your tabletop. Love a quirky place setting...See below for the full instructions after the jump, and happy crafting!
- Hot glue gun
- Drawer Pulls - I chose insects, but there are tons of animals and other darling shapes!
- Metal rings (You can find these in the key section of the hardware store)
Step One // Place a generous dab of hot glue on the back of your pull.
Step Two // Carefully squish the ring onto the glue until it touches the back of the pull and hold in place for a few seconds until it has 'set'. (A quick wiggle will tell you.)
Step Three // Add extra glue until it completely surrounds the metal ring, and this will make sure that it is securely attached to the pull. This step is important (as we discovered later that evening with guests at the table), and will ensure that the two pieces don't come apart when they're being put to good use. ;)
Decorate your place settings with the pretty new table-jewelry by pinching the centers of each napkin and gently pulling through the ring. A quick fluff to the tail ends at the bottom, and right on to the center of the plates they go!
There you have it, friends! Possibly the easiest DIY in the history of hand-making, but I ended up being very pleased with the results, and I can't wait to hear what you think!*Step-by-step photos by Sara Haile
