I’ve noticed that I’m ok with more white space than usual lately. 🙌🏼 Blank pages, empty afternoons, and pared-down belongings. . “Breathing room,” I tell myself. . Spirit responds: “Breath is a process of exhale and then expansion.” . I understand that both are needed to make the whole oxygen thing work, but I’ve been hovering in that place where it feels like every ounce of air has been pressed out of my chest. Seems to be a mixture of low-grade anxiety, combined with clinging to the hope that my lungs (and maybe my life?) are ready to be filled up again. . This thought came to me in yoga yesterday: . Gaspy breaths are okay for heavy exertion or harder moments, but when your body is still, it’s a chance to slow the exhales so that you can fill yourself back up with more intention than before. . SO, I’m letting my gaspiness give way to a pace that’s more peaceful this morning. The ins and outs of life continue to be my practice, but keeping my hands in prayer pose certainly helps to keep me focused. 🙏🏼 . The past few days have been A LOT… G is gone all week, so I’m left to deal with adjusting to a new home all by myself. 🏡 From overly-sensitive smoke detectors to front-door wasp's nests to clogged toilets to misplaced plungers. *doh*🤦🏼‍♀️ Moved into our new place on Monday (YAY), fell down the stairs on Tuesday (OW), car broke down on Wednesday (NO), finally ran out of tears today so I guess you could say that things are looking up!☀️ I wish I were joking but you couldn’t make this stuff up unless you were writing an over-the-top episode of “I Love Lucy.” Each time I’m tempted to toss in the towel and crawl back into bed, I remember: “He’s the one who comforts us in all our trouble so that we can comfort other people who are in every kind of trouble.”🌈 Just know that my hope for you is certain and potent — a vivid reminder that we’re never alone. 🙌🏼 It’s gotten me thru a heap of messes this week (and um, always?) so I’m happy to share bc there’s plenty to go around.❤️ . #flavorfullife #lovewins #belmontshore #longbeachca #seasoneveryday #dreambig #marriageisfunny #refinedwoman #neveralone #inlongbeachasitisinheaven
Breaking News: These characters were complicit in the murder of a small bird this week. . After the witness (me) had finally stopped screaming and the victim’s body was removed from the scene (by Mr. Pepper), both suspects were questioned and the ringleader was overheard saying, “Would she believe us if we pretend like I thought it was a chew toy?” . They have since issued a statement that officially changes their status from best friends to business partners, and the local bird covey has put the entire area on neighborhood watch. . When I was little, I understood that seeing this mountain from any point in town meant that I‘d easily be able to find my way home. 🏡 . Technically just a lumpy mound of dirt in the shape of a camel, but it must have some sort of grip on my desert-bred heart? ❤️ . Even after moving + living + loving my way across the country, it’s familiar shape (drenched in sunshine!!) still has the power to call me back again and again. 🏜 .
