Exactly 12 months ago, I thought I was aware of what it felt like to over-share on the internet.
I’ve been posting snippets of my life online for over eight years (yikes!) and though much of it has been focused on things like mascara and cocktails, I’ve always been just as excited about the chance to write straight from the heart.
This week marks the anniversary of something that started as a little side-project, and has truly turned into something that has morphed and changed and molded both of our hearts.
I sometimes still struggle with how to explain Marriage is Funny to new friends, but here’s my best effort: If you have ever felt like “the perfect relationship” was out of reach, please take a listen and I promise you’ll find out that you’re not alone.
Today, we released a tearful Season Two Finale and it reminded me of a digital graduation ceremony of sorts… You can’t shake the feeling that that you’ve come so far, but the unknowns of the future are daunting to say the least.
A few things that I DO know:
+ Talking things out and tight bear hugs really do fix almost anything. If you’re low on snuggles, you can snatch up one (or all three!) of our super-cool t-shirts and it’s an instant way to join the family.
+ Expectations are complicated, but embracing Great Love is the best way to live. Not only has this notion shaped our last two seasons, but it also inspired my next podcast project called The Perfect Wife! (Stay tuned for the launch a little later in June.)
+ In the words of my favorite duet (and the one that helped us kicked things off exactly one year ago): “Just give me a reason, just a little bit’s enough — just a second — we’re not broken just bent and we can learn to love again! It’s in the stars, it’s been written in the scars on our hearts. We’re not broken just bent and we can learn to love again.”
