It shouldn’t surprise you that spicy snacks are my jam, and a plate of shishito peppers has been at the top of my list for the last few years!

I remember the first time I tried them as an appetizer at one of our favorite sushi spots in NYC, and it was only a matter of time before perfecting the recipe at home became a priority.

We usually grab a bundle at the local farmers market here in Long Beach, but I’ve also seen them at Trader Joe’s on occasion and I even have a friend who has seen them pre-cooked and frozen in the freezer aisle of her own supermarket!

No matter how you make them at home (here’s the five minute route), here are a few fun ways to add a little extra flavor to my favorite spicy snack:

Am I the only one who gets a total kick out of recreating restaurant-style recipes in the comfort of my own home? It always feels much fancier than serving a typical cheese plate (though we love those too) and any of these options would be the perfect appetizer for a dinner party or even as the delicious start to a full blown bash with friends!
