Eat | Shishito Peppers

February 22, 2016

It shouldn’t surprise you that spicy snacks are my jam, and a plate of shishito peppers has been at the top of my list for the last few years!

I remember the first time I tried them as an appetizer at one of our favorite sushi spots in NYC, and it was only a matter of time before perfecting the recipe at home became a priority.

We usually grab a bundle at the local farmers market here in Long Beach, but I’ve also seen them at Trader Joe’s on occasion and I even have a friend who has seen them pre-cooked and frozen in the freezer aisle of her own supermarket!

No matter how you make them at home (here’s the five minute route), here are a few fun ways to add a little extra flavor to my favorite spicy snack:

Am I the only one who gets a total kick out of recreating restaurant-style recipes in the comfort of my own home? It always feels much fancier than serving a typical cheese plate (though we love those too) and any of these options would be the perfect appetizer for a dinner party or even as the delicious start to a full blown bash with friends!

Pour yourself a glass of wine, make yourself a plate, and let me know what you think!

I may sound like a drug lord describing a new found affinity for…grilled Shishito peppers.

Hey man…I rcvd a primo new shipment of Shishitos from the left coast… L.A.

Recruiting newbies Im priming as new pepper addicts and spreading the word…free samples and how to process/ use the product. You roast, grill or smoke them man…and then pop them…from the stem…and then savor the sensory delights…pure ecstacy.

More addictive than crack, non fattening, not illegal…and buying for a dollar a lb…or in drug vernacular…only 2 bucks a kilo man…lol.
