We’re back in one piece from our tropical trip and before I jump right into a rundown of the vacation, I’ve got a little outfit update to kick off the week!
Finding the time to train for my next big race has meant getting realllllly clever about squeezing my sweat-sessions into the limited free-time of a busy summer. As much as I love spending time RELAXING in a bathing suit, my regular work schedule means that trips to the pool have to be as streamlined as possible.
I wore this particular look on a day that had meetings in the morning, and then planned a training sesh at the pool for the afternoon. Wearing my racing suit as a tank meant that I could jump (nearly) right into the water before having a chance to let a work-related issue drive me back to my desk at home.
(If you’ve been around for a while, you’ll remember that being completely ready before actually getting to the gym is one of my secrets tricks to ensure that I don’t bail on a scheduled workout!)
I know that my outfit here might seem a leeettle out-there on the style scale (though you KNOW I love a good head-tilt), but I think this strategy could work for nearly anyone’s wardrobe if a any skirt was worn over a neutral suit in the place of a typical basic tank.
Kind of like the bodysuits from the 90s, but WAY better. ;)
By keeping things streamlined, I only need to toss a few more things in my tote to have a great swim:
A lightweight fouta towel
My rubber pool sandals (YES I wear fancy ones)
Phytoplage oil and a swimcap to keep away the green outta my blonde
A breezy cotton romper to throw on for the walk home
AND my trusty bobble (in lagoon green, to match my suit!)
Top to Bottom
ASOS over-sized sunnies
Sorrelli hoop earrings
BaubleBar double-strand necklace
Athleta one-piece swimsuit
UO reversible tote
House of Harlow leather skirt (similar)
Nine West wedge sandals
So, whaddya think:
Am I completely crazy for wearing my swimsuit on the street? Can you see yourself ever trying the same style strategy to maximize your own schedule?
Ps. – This super-cool graphic option is on the shortlist when it comes to deciding what I’ll wear for race day in the fall!
