I have considered myself an athlete for as long as I can remember, and as much as I love fitness, today’s post has my quaking in my (crisp new) tennies…
Competing in a triathlon has been on my bucket list for a few years now, but I’m so excited to start preparing for a race that is FINALLY going to be happening this Fall! I’ve been consuming every possible resource that I can get my hands on lately, and my current goal is to learn about the best (healthiest!) ways to train for a triathlon without a huge disruption of my usual routine and without losing my desire to go through with the actual race.
So far, it’s been a little overwhelming to decide on a program that feels like the right fit for my schedule and current resources. (Uh, legit pools are a little scarce around here.) The good news is that I’ve pieced together a creative version of several different options, and with the help of my friends at Bobble, I am officially getting the chance to dig in this week.
My current workout on cardio-days involve some combo of running (either stairs or distance), mixed with sustained strength training moves (legs + arms), but I know that I’ll need to start adding in some variety and obviously some swimming and cycling in order to be ready for race day.
The bottom line is that I’m so freaking excited to share about the process here, and the BEST part is that Bobble is helping us celebrate by offering you the chance to win a super fun giveaway! (Check out the details and enter to win a bunch of great fitness gear – including a new FitBit! – over on my instagram feed.)
Bobble will be helping me stay hydrated throughout the summer with their snazzy bottles, and I’m SO excited to have this fun partnership as a chance to give you all my best tips for getting fit. ;)
Before I sign off for the day, I have to ask: Have any of you ever trained for (or finished!) a multi-leg race before?
Any tips would be SO appreciated, and I’m NOT joking when I say that anyone is welcome to join me for the Hermosa Beach Sprint Triathlon in CA on October 18th! ;)
