I walked into a local boutique in this outfit last weekend, and a lady came rushing up to me while she gushed the following:
“Those trousers! They’re the exact same color as my dog, Toffee!”
I am rarely rendered speechless, but this was one of those moments where an appropriate response simply eluded me.
Something like, “Wow – So great!” would have totally sufficed, but instead…
I stammered before replying, “Well, I guess I’ll have to start calling these my puppy pants!”
*WHAT?!*
Get a grip, Jessie.
In an effort to prove that awkward moments CAN turn out to have happy endings: We continued to chat for at least 15 more minutes, and it turns out we have a lot in common… Now ALSO including a lunch date in Hoboken next week.*
Moral of this story is that bonding over fashion is a great way to make new friends, and the secondary moral is that I need more items of clothing that make people excited to tell me about their fur-babies. ;)
*Yes, we will both be bringing our pups.
