Sharing a few snippets from last weekend’s anniversary adventures in the Hudson Valley, and figured I’d let the photos do (most!) of the talking. ;)
Click through for a peek at our little getaway, in pictures, and find out all of the best bits that we’d highly recommend!
Checked in to the darling spot that we found on AirBnB, and were greeted by a garden complete with kiwi vines, persimmon trees, and all the veggies you could ever hope for. (MY DREAM!)
Dinner at a sushi spot right on the Hudson River… Did anyone else get to see the moon rise on Friday night?! Gorgeous!
Exploring Newburgh on our morning run… So many cool old buildings!
Coffee and fruit in the parlour of our Bed + Breakfast. The space was SO cool – Originally a convent built in the 1850s, and now a residence with an art supply store on the first floor. (The hosts were darling, and we will definitely go back!)
Our Saturday excursion began when we were picked up by the kind folks at Buick and driven to a nearby raspberry orchard for a delightful lunch + lemonade in the sunshine!
Lunch was a fresh mix of colorful veggies prepared by Chef Mona Talbott. (My fave was the raw zucchini noodles with toasted almonds, fluffy goat cheese and fresh herbs!)
FARM DOGGIE! Fetching sticks like it was her job. ;)
Next we headed to a local whiskey distillery called Hillrock Estate. This was easily the highlight of the trip, and even if you have the slightest interest in how this award-winning liquid gold is made – I would HIGHLY recommend a visit for the tour and tasting.
Mr. Pepper all ready to head inside! We both totally geeked out over the whole scientific process that goes into creating G’s favorite drink, and I loved getting the chance to see him so giddy. :)
It all starts with a handful of grains…
The copper distiller machines were actually quite gorgeous, and I was fascinated to learn that the byproducts that don’t get used in the process are sent off to a factory in Kentucky to be turned into other types of non-consumable alchohol (like ethanol + acetone)!
Just a dude hanging out with some barrels.
Tasting time! (Complete with fresh sourdough baguettes and LOTS of local cheese.)
Last stop on Saturday was an incredible eight-course dinner at a restaurant in Hudson, NY called Fish + Game.
The decor of the whole place was incredible, but these “stacked” chesterfield sofas in the entryway had me swooning!
Dinner was served upstairs in the private loft filled with lots of natural light and more lovely details.
Slow-cooked egg and thai chili over fresh salsa verde.
A wine pairing to go with each course!
My favorite dish of the night was this simple salad made with tender turnips, strawberries & sorel leaves over a balsamic and unripened-strawberry vinaigrette.
After wrapping up dinner with our new friends, Buick kindly drove us back to our B+B in Newburgh where we finished off the night with card games and live music at the local brewery… It was certainly a weekend to remember, and such a lovely way to celebrate our seven years of marriage together!
