Well, if this isn’t one of the most humbling things I’ve ever posted on S&P – I don’t know what is!
Today I’m sharing a peek (WAY) behind the scenes of my day to day routine, and I have to admit that the purpose for posting about the process was driven by the fact that I was desperate for a way to hold my-not-so-tidy-self accountable on whipping my make-up cabinet into shape. ;)
Keep reading for all of the before + after photos, a delightful discount to one of my favorite skincare lines, and a few helpful tips to keep in mind for your own organizational adventures…
Now, let me continue by saying that I was [this] close to keeping the before photo to myself… because the final product is all you really care about, right?!
(Ya, right.)
Then I remembered that the transformation would mean nothing if you didn’t get a chance to see how far I came from my usual mayhem of messiness.
Are you ready? Here we are before…
You have my word (and the photographers!) that these were not staged to look intentionally messy, and I promise you that I did not give the cabinet a few good earthquake-shakes before opening the door to let her take these pictures.
Now before we get to the good stuff, I’ve got to share this special treat…
Today’s post was made possible by one of my favorite skincare lines: Bremenn Clinical! They are so kindly offering 20% off + free shipping with the code “style&pepper” for all of my S&P sweeties. (Woohoo!)
I highly recommend the Dark Circle Eraser after seeing great results on my own under-eye shadows… If you’ve asked me about it in person, you’ve already heard me rant and rave – I’m crazy about this stuff, and that’s exactly why you’ll see it pop up on my shelves below! ;)
Without further delay, here are a few of my not-so-sneaky secrets to clearing away your make-up cabinet clutter in a flash:
Make-over your Make-up Cabinet
1. // Corral clutter with cute cups – I’m always finding little vintage pretties for less than $1 at my local thrift store, but eventually our kitchen cupboards get jam-packed! (Think I have a problem, folks? #OYVAY) Use small dishes to keep flat objects from sliding around, and fun tea cups to take advantage of vertical space by holding pieces that stand upright.
2. // Create clever containers – Stray bobby pins are the bain of my bathroom counter existence now that I’m growing my hair back out, and this empty Tic-tac box ended up being the perfect solution! I peeled off the label, stuck a double sided swatch of velcro to the back and used the other one to make sure I’d be able to store it right against the top edge (and out of the way!) until I need them.
3. // Command hooks cure everything – I had mostly forgotten about the “temporary stick” factor since using them all over the place in college, but after a recent trip to Target… I couldn’t help but stock up with some new favorites! I found these longer caddies in the school supply section (I like the medium size, but they also have a larger one) and then the small hooks that now hold my tools were in the closet organization area.
And finally… TA-DAH!
(Are you laughing at how proud I am of myself?)
I’m SUPER excited about my newly spiffed-up space, and can already tell that having a new system will (hopefully) help it to stay this way for much longer than the normal 24 hours. It’s already been a week, and I’m happy to say that it’s still lookin’ good!
Don’t forget about the fun little treat: Bremenn is generously offering 20% off AND free shipping when you use the code “style&pepper” at check out… A great time to add a few new home-run-hitters to your own skincare routine. ;)
Of course, now it’s YOUR turn to share… Do you have any organizational tips that might help me keep things a bit neater going forward?
You guys are always so good at this stuff!!!

Girlfriend, you don’t even want to see what mine looks like! Not to mention the fact that not only do I have a little cabinet like yours, but I’ve taken over the shelving in our closet and filled it with things. I’m going to purge and organize soon :)
I actually really DO want to see what yours looks like… LOL! :) Love a good purge sesh of the beauty supplies – Maybe this weekend?

Haha – hope you’re ok! ;) It’s kind of been blowing my mind as well… SO simple, yet so helpful!!!
I have terrible dark circles and have tried so many different creams. I tried clicking on your link above and it is taking me to an error page. I am willing to try anything and want to make sure I am getting the right product. Thanks!

So smart! Now if only I had a bathroom vanity cabinet instead of an over-the-commode shelf organizer…
I basically just love that you use the word commode. ;)
I LOVED this post. My cabinet is just as messy, and every morning I say to myself, “Okay. Today’s the day you’re going to fix this problem” — and then I never do, haha. Thanks for giving me the inspiration to do it! :)
And thanks for the dark circle remover review — I REALLY need help in that area!
xx
