Concrete Catwalk // Weekend Warrior

November 13, 2012

An outfit full of basic pieces, worn for a weekend of playing tourist.  I almost didn’t even post these photos (yes, there are some looks that don’t make the cut) because it felt a little boring to me, but I figured that it would be fair to admit that I don’t always feel like my style decisions are spot-on.

After the jump you’ll find a few more photos, this outfit’s details, and what kind of activities warrant such plain pieces…

My Mom and Aunt (who are both more like my sisters) were here for a visit a few weeks back, and these shots were taken on our adventure of walking across the Brooklyn Bridge (which was so fun, BTW), brunch & shopping.  Those storm clouds you see in the background were basically the start of what ended up being Sandy, but we didn’t let them stop us from having an amazing few days of some MUCH needed girl’s time.

Oh, and the more I look at these pictures, the more I realize that the olive-green-final-layer really carried the whole look.  I wear vests quite a lot, and I think it’s because the extra texture, color and details can add so much interest, with little to no effort.  Check out some of the very best vests from years past on S&P, and tell me in the comments – is this an item that makes an appearance in your own wardrobe every once in a while?

Vest – Romwe (similar)
Necklace – J. Crew (similar)
Backpack – c/o Lo & Sons
Bracelet – c/o Ann Taylor

I, too, wear tailored vests, when I can fit into them. They replace my back support when I am rested enough and not doing anything physical, and provide just enough coaching for me to hold myself tall and erect. So, I think you call them waist coats, no? Otherwise, all these awful, velcrod back supports that are always binding and rolling. Yes, I do love my lovely snap closure vests.

i have similar pics of me walking across the brooklyn bridge. i lived in NYC (chelsea) for a little over a year and didn’t make it across the bridge until my last week in the city. it is a bittersweet memory…so glad i did it though. and then we saw the model shalom eating at the pizza place right on the other side of the bridge in brooklyn. =) sorry about the book about my memories on your blog…lol! you look adorable.

Hey girl, I think you look great -I feel like I never have a good vacation outfit in my vacay photos b/c I don’t have access to my full closet and I’m not that organized. Ha.
