Bundled up and blogging from the couch this morning, and looking back at these photos, I can hardly believe it looked this lovely outside just a few days ago. The front edge of Hurricane Sandy is currently swirling angrily outside our window, and I’m praying that it fizzles out before it hits us head on here in NYC. Planning on staying tuned into the weather reports, trying to get some projects done around the house today, and hunkering down for what’s to come.
In the meantime, check out the rest of my Headline-inducing outfit below, and find out how you can nab one of the most fun little pieces to hit my closet in a very long time…
One of the exciting things about having dear friends in the fashion industry is that you get a chance to see some incredibly creative and enterprising minds come up with innovative ideas and then watch them come to fruition. My friend Carrie Hammer has been successfully delivering stylish custom workwear to the modern woman for the past year, and now is launching a new ready-to-wear line for those of us looking for a lower price point and a wider selection of options.
The ridiculously adorable newsprint skirt you see in the photos above is my favorite piece from her new collection, and is now available for sale through her Kickstarter campaign. Be sure to watch the video to meet Carrie here (you will LOVE her!), and if you’d like a skirt for yourself, you can pre-order your own exclusive items today!

love the way you styled it, J! XO
My friend who passed on 2 yrs ago at 96, wore a dress printed from that days paper, for her debutante photo in the late 1920’s. They ran the muslin thru the presses of the local paper. She was beautiful, of course, and was sick of the debutante world and abandoned the Southern city for NYC and the USO and escorted and danced with many a sailor in port and wanting to see the sights with a beautiful young lady. All her dates were strictly Broadway plays.
Oh, and Jessie, cook up a pot of spaghetti and serve it with lemon juice, olive oil, parmesan and basil. Hardboil a dozen eggs and leave in shell, can leave at room temp if in shell. Toast up a loaf of hearty bread, butter, and keep at room temperature. The dog will love the egg and the pasta, especially if you mash up a garlic clove in it. Keep safe.
that skirt is all sorts of amazing … love the way you wore it!!

That sweater is cozy perfection! I love the shade and how you paired it with that velvety green purse without looking too Christmas. The skirt is so fun, too!
