Concrete Catwalk // Paisley Maxi-skirt

February 21, 2012

Just wanted you all to know that I resisted a very strong urge to title this post Fuzzy Wuzzy the Bear, but when you have to walk across the frozen tundra to the Subway into the city (and then back again!) you gotta layer those snuggly pieces on liberally!

Also, I’ve got to tell you about my snazzy new little woven bag that I’m carrying in the photos above…  I’m honestly not much of a handbag person (although you’re not going to believe me, when I see my latest investment purchase later this week), but when a cool new company, Little Black Bag, contacted me to see if I’d like to try out their site, it sounded so fun that I just HAD to give it a go.

You first sign on to take a style quiz and then purchase a Little Black Bag that contains 3-4 items from their amazing selection (you get to choose the first item to make sure you get at least one thing you’d like), and then they fill the rest according to your previously determined aesthetic.  I was surprised to see that all of the items in my bag were AWESOME right off the bat – there are some really great brands available including: BCBG, Gorjana, Deux Lux, Kenneth Jay Lane, Betsey Johnson, Matt & Nat and more!

Once they reveal your goodies, you have a week to trade and swap any of the items in your bag with anyone else who has a “live” bag on the site, and when you’re happy with what’s inside, you click “send” and it ships right to your doorstep!

If you follow me on Instagram (@styleandpepper!), you might have seen the little dinosaur salt and pepper shakers that I used to set the table for our Valentine’s Day dinner, and those were one of the other goodies in my bag – SO cute (see below)!!!  I also got a pair of earrings, but I haven’t gotten a chance to wear them yet.

The process was really fun (you all KNOW I love a great swap), but because I’m usually pretty intentional with my purchases, I’m not sure if I would have tried this for myself or not.  Was actually thinking it would make a GREAT present for a girlfriend because they’d end up with a really fun process and some adorable gifts!  What do you think – would you ever try something like Little Black Bag?  Click here if you’re interested in signing up, and check it out for yourself!!!

That green is just lovely on you! Such a bold pairing here. I love your bag too-a neat idea to buy a bag filled with surprises. I never could resist a good grab bag, even when I was a little kid! :)

OMG i can’t believe how rude some people can be. FIY a brazillian blog posted your photo as a “bad look of the day”. I agree that once you have a blog, yous images and photos are all there on the internet and you can’t control what other people do to them, nor what they THINK about them. I’m not here do defend you or the blogger who posted your photo. I’m just here to make clear that if you’re looking at those comments and (presumably)not understanding them, they are just a typical case of “haters gonna hate” post.
These girls came here just to offend you, but for me that’s not the bad part (as I’ve said, you can’t control what people think about you once you voluntarily expose yourself). The thing is, they’re doing this in their own language, what I personally think it’s rude. If you wanna have nan argument with someone, you must do this in a way that this person will have the chance to answer back.

These girls are not trying to have an argument, they just want pointless, meaningless hating comment on other people’s blogs. I just came here to say that it’s not because a couple of girls can’t control their trolling instincts that you should pay them attention. I believe that if they really wanted to say you something and criticize you to make your look fit into their idea of a good look, they would do this in your language. But they don’t. They’re just hating, and I’m tired of seen this.

    Honestly,

    a Brazilian

Thanks so much for letting me know about those comments… I’ve deleted them instead of responding to them directly mainly because of the language barrier, and I really appreciate you sharing your honest thoughts above. :)
