Falling for Autumn

it's has been one heckofa fall here in kansas city,

and we're trying to soak up every last second here with our dear friends.

looking forward to a jam-packed weekend (starting tonight!) 

including a lovely dinner party,
the grand opening event at the new kate spade store on the plaza,

cold-weather camping with about 50 of our closest friends,

and of course, a few fun halloween festivities!

Concrete Catwalk // Candy Coated

we hosted some neighbors for pumpkin carving and board games the other night,

and because i knew we'd be cozied up inside sipping cocktails

(and knowing me - getting a little messy!)

i decided to go with a simple and casual jeggings and poncho combo.

i swiped on my new purpley lipstick and a added a statement necklace from jewelmint

in order to make it feel a little more special and a little less like loungewear.

DIY // Friendship Bracelets

 image borrowed from the lovely ladies at honestly...WTF

no doubt you have seen a TON of this friendship bracelet trend recently... it's super cute, but i was really hesitant to jump on the bandwagon at first.  mainly because i felt like it became overdone quite quickly, but also because i didn't like the idea of having to tie or untie the ones made with the pretty embroidery thread everytime i needed to take them on/off.

i eventually ended up feeling like i wanted to be BFFs along with everyone else, and this is my take on making the trend work for me!

i bought the actual woven bracelets for this DIY at the hell's kitchen flea market (5 for $5!) and then used just a couple of other household supplies to turn them into cuffs that i can easily slip on and off whenever i please.

we had fun exploring a new neighborhood on our way to the farmer's market this weekend, and i couldn't resist twirling through the leaves.  growing up in a region that has about one and a half seasons means that every little fall moment is still a complete novelty to me.

one of my favorite parts of my job is hosting on-air style segments
for a few of our local news stations.
but sometimes i get so wrapped up in everything else
that i forget to share the clips here with you!

would you believe me if i told you that i designed these jeans?

indi denim has this super cool system where you can custom design your own duds

and then they make them to fit your measurements perfectly!

i knew that i wanted to try something a little different,

so i went with a super high-waist, a dark wash and a slight taper at the ankle.
