Concrete Catwalk // Lace Frock

i wore this outfit to a rooftop party last week
that showcased beautiful views of our downtown skyline,
and i knew i wanted to look just a breezy as i felt.

the extra layer helped me stay the perfect temp
(though i can't imagine an extra layer on a warm day like today!)
and i think the vintage necklace and neon lips
kept the monochromatic pieces from looking too drab.

Concrete Catwalk // Cropped

one of my all-time favorite vintage finds,
this cropped blouse was just begging to be paired with some boyfriend jeans,
and pair of sky-high platforms.

a little different from the super feminine,
extra-dose-of-floral from the last time i wore it, no?

jeans, handbag & ring - j. crew
bracelet - charming charlie

One Piece, Three Ways // mint Dress

i've been doing a little [browser] window shopping over the last few days,
and noticed that i keep going back to this pretty little mint-colored dress from lulu's.

although i'm not really in the market for a new dress, i thought it would be fun
to whip up a few outfits to see if i could come up with some unique combos,
and so now i'm sharing them with you!

as a personal stylist, and someone who loves to get a lot of wear out of my own clothes,
one of the first things i think about when considering a new piece is:
"does it fill a current hole in the wardrobe?"
or
"can it be worn in many different ways for different occasions?"

i think this dress answers a resounding "YES" to both questions
and could definitely be the base piece to lots of different outfit options.

i'd love to know: which look is your favorite?

*all the items in each set are from the lovely lulu's who are a sponsor of TCC*
if you are interested in more info about sponsorship, please feel free to email me
and i'd be happy to send along a media kit and details
about the summer rates still available!
i love working with fellow independent and like-minded businesses
and would love to help increase your visibility and consumer interaction!

Concrete Catwalk // Self-made Maxi

it's true. i made this maxi skirt all by myself.
it's got all kinds of little wrinkles and snags (and i decided to leave the hem undone)
because this fabric is really hard to sew, but i still love it just the same!

also, if you follow me on twitter
you might have seen that i ordered a few new pairs of shoes recently,
(my first purchases in a QUITE a while) and these are one of them!
do you like? i had been looking for some orange summer-y shoes for forever,
and i think these fit the bill perfectly!

As Seen On // Employee Lounge

casa de concrete catwalk can't take any credit for the photos from today's post...
they're from the gals over at employee lounge, another great local KC blog
that features excellent service industry professionals,
highlights our amazing restaurant/bar scene
and encourages discussion about how to make our city a better place to live.

the girls behind EL (linh and tina) and i are going to be collaborating
on some fun upcoming projects, and to welcome me to "the lounge",
we got together to snap some outfit shots and to do a brief interview together.

pop over to their site to see more great outfit photos!
plus you can read about my specialty dish that i'll make when you come over,
along with the quirky "secret stash" i bring with me when i travel!

speaking of traveling:i booked THREE major plane flights yesterday
(southwest was having a huge sale)
and i can't wait for a summer/fall filled with trips for both fun & work!
...more on that later!

have a great weekend!

and just finally got a chance to take photos.
people always ask me if i ever re-wear an outfit,
and the answer is YES!
if i love it, i wear it as much as i want.

Concrete Catwalk // Plan B

we went to a rehearsal dinner on friday night
and this was one of those times where i had an enTIREly different outfit planned
but it ended up not looking right when i put it on 20 mins before we had to go.
hate it when that happens!

i ended up reaching for a tried and true favorite that i knew would work
and added some neutral accessories and a simple hairstyle.
(also had to grab some doubled sided tape for that neckline!)
sometimes it's nice to have a few "plan b's" standing by in your closet, you know?

Concrete Catwalk // Blues & Bows

 happy monday, sugarpots!
i've got a busy day lined up, and TONS of scarf swap coordinating to do,
(we had over 150 people sign up - awesome!)
so let's get right to it...

i wore the outfit you see above for a VERY full day of work on saturday,
(styling a photoshoot of a family being featured in the august issue of money magazine)
and i knew it was going to have to get me through 6 hrs in the car & at least 8 hrs on my feet,
while still keeping me cool and looking somewhat put together.
a sometimes tricky balance to achieve, i've found!
(if you happen to like the blouse
it's currently for sale in my shop!!!)
*update: sold this morning! here is another that is similar!*

also, i wanted to show you my new ring! (2nd photo)
g came home with it for me last week, and it's my new FAVE.
love having a husband that knows my taste perfectly...
thanks, sweetheart! :)
