Travel | Omaha Fashion Week

August 31, 2011
lots of fun photos to share with you today!
my girlfriend sam and i had a great time at omaha fashion week,
and we loved exploring the downtown area and meeting lots of new friends!
instead of telling you about it, i’d rather show you…
and without further ado, here’s our trip in pictures:
my super cute travel partner and i checked in on friday afternoon
to the GORGEOUS and fabulously accommodating hotel deco
here’s a sneak peek of our outfits at friday nights show!
saturday morning we had breakfast at the zin room,
and then hit up the farmer’s market in the old market arts & entertainment district.
so many cute shops and local restaurants there…
we’d have to stay for weeks to try them all!
my exploring outfit! a light layer for the cooler morning temps,
and a nice big tote for carrying our purchases!
the flying worm was, by far, my favorite shop we stopped at.
the gal working was super nice, and it was fun chatting
with another vintage-loving gal in the midwest!
i found some AWESOME goodies here, and i can’t wait to show you!
pretty patterned dresses outside the flying worm… loved the type of the signs, too.
TONS to look at across the street at second chance
including a family of cats that lives inside the shop. :)
downstairs was a treasure trove of vintage clothing,
but it was pretty overwhelming (even for me!) and we left emptyhanded.
took a little break in the shade outside on some cool chairs
before heading back to our hotel for some rest and a quick run,
and then to get ready for the big grand finale event that night!
we loved meeting these darling gals at the table next to us: jody, jen & meghann.
so cool to find out that we had lots in common
with these fellow bloggers & business women,
and i’m so excited to keep in touch with them!
the shows were a huge range of different styles and i snapped tons of photos,
but i wanted to make sure i got a chance to share a few of my faves…
love the jewel toned colors of this collection, and thought the styling was especially fun.
i’ve already been scheming about how i might weave different ribbons and fabrics into my next braid!
patterned shorts with a sheer blouse: swoon!
loved this cropped sequined top with a high-waisted leather skirt!
super simple with shirred sleeves and a few sweet ruffles at the hem. want!
i wanted to wear that chambray romper right out of the show…
loved this casual day-time collection.
a silk mini-dress with long sleeves and a henley neckline looks chic,
yet effortless paired with a casual cross-body bag.
this last photo is hilarious and super-blurry, but i couldn’t resist including it.
we were walking home from saturday’s show and decided to take pictures in the o! :)
(stay tuned for the full outfit post soon!)
again… such a fabulous weekend,
and i can’t wait to take g back with me to show him around!
if you’re from kc and haven’t made it to omaha yet,
i’d highly recommend it for a great weekend trip
that’s reasonably priced, super fun & very easy to get to!

My hometown!! Well kinda I live across the river in Council Bluffs but work in downtown Omaha. I was supposed to go to fashion week but was ill. Glad you enjoyed the town. There really is a lot to offer and as you stated very affordable.
