Inspired By | My Mom the Style Icon

April 28, 2011

i’m so excited to share today’s fun post with you! it seems perfectly appropriate since i’m still at home visiting my family and because mother’s day is right around the corner.

the giveaway features the darling book, my mom, the style icon, by piper weiss – and you can have a chance at winning your very own signed copy by leaving a comment on this post!

i devoured the whole book in just one sitting, and especially loved seeing all of the fabulous vintage on the stylish mamas!

it was a lot of fun looking at all of the fun categories and styles that piper features, and even more fun hunting through old photographs so that i could show you a peek at a few of the stylish women in my family (of which there are many!)

my nana (dad’s side)
midi skirt and pretty sheer sleeves!
i think i inherited her love of hats!
gloves and another gorgeous hat, plus my papa in a 3-piece suit
my meema (mom’s side)
that’s her on the right in saddle shoes & a pretty corsage
pretty patterned shirt dress… do you think i look like her?
flowy peach off-the-shoulder maxi dress at my parents wedding – amazing!
my mama
in her sassy red bellbottoms, with my uncle
denim on denim – love it!
wish she still had this tube top because i would steal it from her!
gorgeous despite the hilarious 80s hair!
my aunt
can’t skip over my beautiful aunt sally…
she’s one of my best friends, and i love her like a sister!

hope you enjoyed the sneak peak and be sure to check out piper’s blog and leave a comment on this post (with your name and email) for a chance to win a signed copy of my mom, the style icon!

i’ll close the comments and draw a winner on monday at 9am, so check back to see if you’re the lucky duck and stay tuned for the first of the arizona outfit posts tomorrow!

Your mom’s beautiful! She looks like a movie star. :) That third photo with both of them looking so sharp reminds me of my husband’s parents photo when they were in California. I do think you look like your mom. :) Beautiful!

Those pictures are so great. I love seeing pictures of my mother and grandmothers in their youth. I actually have framed photos of my grandmothers as young women on my walls.

My-mom-the-style-icon is the only page I like of the new Lucky Mag. I would love to see the book it is based on. Before I read who the lady in the saddle shoes was, I thought she looked just like you. And you look like your Mom, especially in profile. Other than those gorgeous blue eyes, you also inherited those great arms and shoulders from your mom. Thanks for sharing!

Love these pictures and can completely relate. Alzheimer’s ended up robbing my mother of her style…but she never lost her sweet smile. I have very fond memories of the care she always gave to her style – both personally and in her decorating. Happy, happy memories…so glad you are embracing your mother’s sense of ‘presentation’!
