Concrete Catwalk // Midi Skirt

April 13, 2011
i wanted to look equal parts “ladylike” and “weekend”
for a sunny friday afternoon (new client) consult,
and i knew the main piece to style around was going to be this vintage midi skirt
(with a super comfy elastic waistband, no less).
i couldn’t help adding the bright cobalt heels for a little visual interest
but wanted to keep the rest of the pieces pretty neutral.
also, you can’t see from these photos, but that’s not just ANY ponytail…
it’s a topsy tail.
(please tell me you remember them!?!)
tank – old navy
cardi – j. crew
skirt – vintage, thrifted
belt – urban outfitters
shoes – aldo
nail polish – essie jazz for j. crew

Topsy tail!!! Oh man, the memories…

Also, I’m just loving this. I’ve been hesitant to get on the midi-length train, but I think I’m convinced that I should give it a shot!

I love the soft colour palette and then the bold pop in the shoe. You pull this off well.

Once I return to the States (and one of my favorite hobbies – shopping), I plan to find a longer length skirt that works for me. I’ve always been a “mini or bust” kinda girl, but I’ve craving something a bit more ladylike. The bright shoes are perfect!

Topsy tail! Awesome! I love it.
You have the perfect proportions here with that skirt. I need a belt like that, pronto.

First of all, I am mad impressed by your super buff arms. That tank top has never looked so good, I’ll bet! :)

Second, word on the awesomeness of the midi. I’m a pretty devoted fan of them, especially when trying to remain business/event appropriate (as you said). I love the pattern of this one and how you paired it with those amazing heels.
